Yes, I am a pole dancer (or at least I aspire to be one!) but I’m not a stripper. Most people associate pole dancing with dirty images of… oh I don’t need to go into details of that. I’m sure you get the picture.
How I came to know about pole dancing for fitness was actually fairly casual. A friend of mine in graduate school (we’re both Physics majors, btw) mentioned she’s interested with this new workout routine — pole dancing. I’ve always been an enthusiast of any physical pursuits. At an early age of 10, I fell in love with basketball. When I was a bit older, I fell in love with yoga. And soon after that, I fell in love with pole dancing. I didn’t have any doubts or concerns how it would appear to people, especially in the science community, when they find out I was doing pole dancing. I knew exactly what I was going to say, “I’m applying the laws in Physics through movement!”.
For my first class, I was advised to wear short shorts and to skip putting on lotion. A few of things I have noted down after class was: 1) my short shorts are apparently not short, 2) Dang! sticking to a pole is painful, and 3) I love it!! and I’m going to do it again!
Pole dancing is a complete body workout that will leave your muscles sore and probably give you a few battle scars (bruises, lol) here and there. But the take away is that you will have fun doing all of that! Every class I take makes me feel more confident about my body and slowly gaining more body awareness and sensuality. I’ve been to a few pole dancing studios, but Polecats Manila is very close to my heart. Check them out!
To all girls out there, give it a try. You will not regret it, I promise!
Thanks for the update, can I set it up so I get an email whenever there is a fresh article?
